Kimberly M. Michelsen, 43, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from complications of heart failure.

Kimberly Marie Derifield was born March 19, 1969, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Richard "Dick" and Judy Wilson Derifield. She graduated from East High School in 1987.

She married David Michelsen on September 28, 1996 at Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Kim worked at a number of different places and retired last year for health reasons. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught youth group for several years.

Kim is survived by her husband David of Waterloo, daughter Anna, parents Richard "Dick" and Judy Derifield, all of Waterloo; sister Colleen (Terry) Barna of Jesup, Iowa; exchange student sister Tova Embretson of Norway; and mother in law Kathryn (Al) Michelsen Tarr, father in law Dave (Mary) Michelsen, brother in law Dan Michelsen, nephew Michael (Amy) Borwig, and niece Caitlin Borwig, all of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Carl and Stella Derifield and Harold and Melba Wilson.
