GIRSCH, WEBER, DRISCOLL, CANFIELD, DELAGARDELLE, YOUNGBLUT

August E. Girsch, 81, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at LaPorte City Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born October 19, 1925 in Waterloo, son of Emil and Agatha Weber Girsch.

He married Gloria Driscoll on August 19, 1946 in Waterloo. Mr. Girsch farmed for 70 years in rural Waterloo, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Gilbertville Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Izaak Walton League, and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife; three sons: David (Cathy), and Jim (Peggy), both of Waterloo, and Larry (Julie) of Gilbertville; a daughter Rosie (Steve) Weber of Waterloo; eight grandchildren: Dennis Girsch of Overland Park, KS, Stacy (Mark) McMahon of Raymond, Dana (Jason) Beebe of Winterset, Kindra Weber and Betsy Girsch both of Waterloo, Brenda Girsch, Joseph Girsch, and Michael Girsch all of Gilbertville; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark and Joe (Donna) both of Waterloo; two sisters, Millie Canfield of Rochester, MN, and Mary (Norbert) Delagardelle of Dunkerton.

Preceded in death by a stepfather, Bill Youngblut; a daughter; Annamae Girsch; a brother-in-law Virgil Canfield; a sister-in-law; Mary Jane Girsch.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery both in Gilbertville. Public visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8:00 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.
