Joan B. Poe was born June 9, 1932 in Cedar Falls, Iowa the daughter of Stanley W. and Norma (Blecke) Seroke. She died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at Allen Memorial Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 69 years.

Joan married Ellsworth L. Poe September 15, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. He died September 18, 1971. Joan received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI). She was a homemaker from 1951 to 1971 and was then President of Standard Distributing Company, Inc. and Crystal Distribution Services, Inc.

Survivors include four sons: Stanley of Cedar Rapids, David, Thomas, and Michael, all of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Melinda Fitzgerald of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Susan Pelleymounter of Cedar Falls, and 20 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
