Gladys Marie Junker was born October 30, 1922 at Greene, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Augusta (Fick) Steer. She died Sunday, September 9, 2001 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home at the age of 78 years.

She married John Junker January 13, 1944 at Vilmar, Iowa. He preceded her in death December 24, 1973. They farmed for many years then Gladys became employed as a unit secretary at Sartori Memorial Hospital for 16 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Juanita Ingles, Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren: Donette and Michael Stempien, Jamie Hewitt and Jennifer Shadman; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Steere, Windom, Minnesota, and one sister, Ruth Smith, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one daughter, Janet Stempien; one grandson, Jason Stempien; and one brother, Herbert Steer.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
