JAMES E. "JIM" was born February 6, 1928 in Farley, Iowa, the son of Frank X. and Philomena (Kelly) Scherrman. He died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at 73 years of age.

Jim served with the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He received his B.S. degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1948. He owned and operated Scherrman Motor Company from 1948-1958. Jim was Vice President of Midwest Limestone Company in Gilmore City, Iowa until 1983, when he purchased the Pocahontas & Laurens Ready Mix plants, where he retired in 1988. He is a Past Director of the Iowa Automobile Association, a Past Commander in the American Legion, a charter member of the American Association of Accountants, past financial secretary of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was secretary of the Cedar Falls Rotary International Club.
