Alvin "Pat" Hans Larsen SR.. was born January 26, 1920 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Carl Nels and Elizabeth (Rientz) Larsen.

Pat died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, at 82 years of age.

He married Martha Hatcher in Cedar Falls in 1946, they later divorced. Pat married Catherine Todd on December 14, 1968 in Cedar Falls. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. Pat was an elevator operator at Rath Packing Company for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Air National Guard, Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, Dike AMVETS, and was a volunteer at the Senior Activity Center in Cedar Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of Cedar Falls; his children, Alvin Larsen, Jr. and Cindy Spooner, both of Waterloo, Iowa, Mary Richter and Charlotte White, both of Evansdale, Iowa, James and Carl Larsen, both of Waterloo, and Marie Weise of Cedar Falls; five step-children, David Truesdell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Duane Truesdell of Florida, Anita Truesdell of Cedar Falls, James Truesdell of Minnesota and Kenny Truesdell of Florida; thirty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Larsen, Jr. of Minnesota and a sister, Verna “Jean” Barber of Waterloo.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles Larsen, three grandchildren and a brother, Vernon Larsen.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls.
