Adrian Martin was born September 22, 1937 at Swan, Iowa the son of Herschel and Verda (Messecher) Martin. Adrian died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at 63 years of age.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from June 18, 1956 to June 17, 1958. Adrian married Barbara Bacich on October 7, 1962 and they were later divorced.

He married Sharon Schumacher on August 1, 1981 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He was employed in sales for Walker Shoes in Waterloo for over 20 years then for Econol Lift Corporation in Cedar Falls for 15 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Martin, of Waterloo; one son, David Martin of Kansas City, Kansas; one step-son, Perry Martin of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one step-daughter, Sabrina Hayes of Denver, Iowa; three grandchildren: Kelsey Schumacher, Alyse Hayes, and Melanie Hayes; one great granddaughter, Jenae Hayes; one brother, Therman Martin and one sister, Eloise M. Coen both of Des Moines, Iowa.

Adrian was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joan Marie Martin; one son, James Anthony Martin; and one brother, Arville D. Martin.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church.

WATERLOO -- Adrian L. Martin, 63, of 1101 Lantern Square, Apt. 6, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center emergency room, of natural causes.

He was born September 22, 1937, in Swan, son of Herschel and Verda Messecher Martin.

He married Barbara Bacich October 7, 1962, and they were later divorced. He then married Sharon Schumacher on August 1, 1981, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-58 and was employed in sales for Walker Shoes for more than 20 years and then for Econol Lift Corp. in Cedar Falls for 15 years until retiring.

Survived by: his wife; a son, David of Kansas City, Kansas; a stepson, Perry Schumacher of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter, Sabrina Hayes of Denver; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Therman of Des Moines; and a sister, Eloise M. Coen of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Joan Marie Martin; a son, James Anthony; and a brother, Arville D.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to the church.
