Alva Anna Schwarzenbach, 89, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born May 26, 1917 in Sioux Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Anna (Lage) Puck.

She married Everett Schwarzenbach in Lake Park, Iowa in February of 1948. He preceded her in death. She and her husband farmed at Lake Park, Iowa and retired in 1978, moving to Mesa, Arizona. She moved back to Iowa in 1999 to be near her family. This dear lady touched so many people. She brought smiles and laughter to her large circle of family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Alva is survived by two sons, Everett (Patricia) Schwarzenbach of Egg Harbor, New Jersey and Dan Schwarzenbach of Bristol, Connecticut; one daughter, Pauline (Keith) Branstetter of Sanibel Island, Florida; one daughter in law, Arlene Schwarzenbach of Cedar Falls, Iowa; twelve grandchildren: Jason (Dana) Schwarzenbach, Heather Schwarzenbach, Stefanie Schwarzenbach, Toni Schwarzenbach, Geoffrey Schwarzenbach, Jessica Branstetter, Kassidy Branstetter, Jamie (Laura) Kain, Brad (Penny) Kain, Matt (Diana) Kain, Tami (Ed) Powers, and Todd (Jen) Schwarzenbach; nine great-grandchildren, Drew, Lars and Maddi Kain, Lily and Gabe Kain, Jeff and Michael Hanson, Abbey and Ella Schwarzenbach; one brother, Harlan Puck of Lake Park, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Lyle Schwarzenbach, her daughter Paula Kain; three sisters: Erma Bush, Laura Mae Rients and her twin sister, Alta Hansen.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour before service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial may be directed to the National Patient Advocacy Foundation.
