Kenneth W. Overkamp was born January 13, 1916 in Osage, Iowa: the son of Frank and Tracy (Kraft) Overkamp. He graduated from Elkton High School.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Dorothy I. Warren on March 13, 1937 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on December 19, 1987.
He began his working career at Construction Machinery Company, driving trucks and retired after 40 plus years as the Vice President. After retirement, Kenneth and Dorothy traveled to Arizona and Texas, eventually making Arizona their home. In 1999, Kenneth moved back to Iowa to be closer to his family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting and flying his own plane. Later, Kenneth liked to read and play cards.
Kenneth passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home at the age of 96 from cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy and a sister Adeline Stenborg. Kenneth is survived by a son Errol (Pat) Overkamp of Cedar Falls; three daughters: Sherry DuCharme, Nylene (David) Boyce, both of Cedar Falls and Dina Overkamp of Van Horne; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a brother Donald (Joan) Overkamp of Blaine, Minnesota. Kenneth will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
