Catherine B. Simons - February 17, 1923 - June 6, 2007

Catherine B. Simons, 84, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Parkview Gardens Care Center.

She was born February 17, 1923 in Dunkerton daughter of Thomas and Porte Dawes Cunningham.

She married LaVerne Mike Simons in 1946, at St. Marys Catholic Church Waterloo. He died November 11, 1978.

Catherine was employed as a seamstress at Waterloo Tent & Awning for 17 years. After retirement she was a senior companion for 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Gene (Virginia) Cunningham of Fairbank and John (Sally) Simons of Waterloo; one daughter-Beverly (Roy) Flippo of Waterloo; ten grandchildren: Tara (Tim) Hoeppner, William (Shawna) Flippo, John R. Simons, Paul Simons, Nadine (Bud) Cunningham, Elaine Newkirk, Irene (Mike) Loomer, Bronson (Barb) Cunningham, and Duane (Kathy) Cunningham; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothea Burk of Waterloo, Mary Schons of Independence, and Margaret Scherbing of Brooklyn Park, MN.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Jim.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before service at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
