Irene Klein (1923-2006)

WATERLOO - Irene Faye Klein, 83, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Wessington Springs, S.D., daughter of John and Grace Musgrove McCombs. She married Max E. Klein Sr. Sept. 27, 1941, in Waterloo, and they were later divorced.

Mrs. Klein was employed with Chamberlain Manufacturing for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by a son, Max Jr. (Margaret) of Waterloo; a daughter, Pamela (Keith) Hansen of Cresco; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with two more expected; a brother, Lee (Betty) McCombs of Waterloo; and a sister, Sally Gilfillan of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by a son, Timothy; three great-grandsons: Samuel, Jakob and Brady; and a sister, Juanita.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with private family inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
