Dorothy Ann Cockhren, 45, of San Diego, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at San Diego Scripp-Mercy Hospital of a heart attack.

She was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Greenwood, Miss., daughter of Sandy and Nercise Hazel Cockhren. She was a nurses' aide for many years.

Survived by two daughters, Deborah and Delores Cockhren, both of San Diego; a son, Demetrius of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; her mother of Waterloo; five sisters: Sadie Hill, Julie Mae Cockhren and Willie Mae Bolden, all of Waterloo, and Martha and Katie Cockhren, both of San Diego; and five brothers: Sammie Lee and James Cockhren, both of Waterloo, J.C. and David Cockhren, both of Cedar Rapids, and Charles Cockhren of San Diego.

Preceded in death by her father; a sister, Pearlie Stringfellow; and a brother, Walter Lee Cockhren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Community Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Parrott & Wood Family Funeral Care, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
