Duane H. Greeley, 80, of Waverly, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at his home in Waverly.

He was born July 16, 1926 at Hudson, Iowa, the son of Harold and Gladys (Arter) Greeley.

Duane married Evelyn Miller on April 23, 1949 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2001. He married Kay Franken on November 3, 2002, at Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly.

Duane served in the US Army during WW II. He farmed north of Finchford and also raised purebred short-horned cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, of Waverly; two daughters, Rosemary (Rick) Carlson of Kansas City, Missouri and Carolyn (Hugh) Hoelzen of West Burlington, Iowa; five step sons, Randy (Pam) Russell of Waverly, Ron (Lisa) Russell of Parkersburg, Iowa, Rod Russell of Waverly, Roger (Darci) Russell of Waverly and Larry (Karla) Franken of Washburn, Iowa; two step daughters, Susan (Wendell) Muller of Clarksville, Iowa and Stacy (Kevin) Kuennan of Maynard, Iowa; two grandchildren, Rachael Carlson and Jared Hoelzen, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (Jo) Greeley of Wheeling, Missouri; one sister, Elaine Harding of Sun City, Arizona, and one brother-in-law, Harvey Brandt of Denver, Iowa.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents and first wife; two children, Marilyn and Jeffrey, both in infancy, and two sisters, Williadine Brandt and Geraldine Briden.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Heritage United Methodist Church, Waverly, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, where military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
