Evelyn Louise Leckbee was born September 2, 1919 in Mendota, Illinois the daughter of Oscar and Bertha (Young) Olsen. She died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Marble Rock, Iowa at the age of 81 years.

She married Theodore Leckbee October 9, 1939 in Austin, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1993. Evelyn and Ted owned and operated Olsen’s Lunch in Cedar Falls for many years. Evelyn was employed for 25 years at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo as a nurse’s aide, retiring in 1981. She was past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her son, Theodore J. Leckbee and his wife, Carol, of Olathe, Kansas; her daughter, Jackie Keiper and her husband, Bob, of Marble Rock, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Leckbee, John Struckman, Billie Struckman, and Monica Trevett, and one great grandson, Mark Ackley, Jr.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Debra and Donna, a great granddaughter, Christine Struckman, and one brother, Oscar Olsen.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2001, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial fund will be established.
