Donald M. Corwin, was born August 6, 1918 in Janesville, Iowa, the son of Harry and Minnie (Engleman) Corwin. Don died Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at 82 years of age.

He married Dagny Hansen on August 6, 1941 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Don served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WW II. He owned and operated Corwin Sand & Gravel Co. for several years and worked for the Cedar Falls Utilities for 35 years, retiring in 1980 as the Superintendent of Water Distribution and Gas Construction.

He is survived by his wife Dagny, of Cedar Falls; his three children, Charles R. Corwin (Linda) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carol J. Evans (Jason) of Moraga, California and Chester H. Corwin (Nancy Klodt) of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Greg Ellis (Shana), Shelli Corwin Dismang, Astonia Corwin, Chad Corwin, Nicole Corwin and Bryan Corwin, and a brother, Lawrence Corwin (Radah) of Waterloo.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanette Phelps and Mildred Kreger and four brothers: John, Earl and Roger Corwin and Don’s twin brother Ronald Corwin, who died in infancy.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2001 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Military committal rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 237 and Janesville AMVETS Post 522.
Memorials may be directed to the church and the Donald Corwin Memorial Fund.
