Susan M. Boyle, December 15, 1943 - December 31, 2006

Susan M. Atkins Spear Boyle, 63, of Evansdale died Sunday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of natural causes.

She was born December 15, 1943 in Des Moines, the daughter of Hubert and Jane Bolster Atkins. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1961 and attended Hawkeye Community College. She was employed with McGladrey & Pullen and with UNI for many years as a secretary. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and was active with the Columbus Class Reunion Committee of 1961.

Survivors include her son James Lyle (Nancy) Spear III of Lake Zurich, IL; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Brumbaugh of Mt. Pleasant, and Kathleen Marie (Ross) Witt of Ankeny; eight grandchildren: Ashley Brumbaugh, Chantel Witt, Shelby Brumbaugh, Bryce Witt, Cathryne Spear, Daniel Spear, Margueret Spear, and Benjamin Lourens; two brothers, Michael Atkins of Waterloo and Timothy (Terri) Atkins of Buckingham; a sister, Christine (Joel) Johnson of Hudson, WI; half-brothers, Curtis (Leann) Atkins of Waverly, and Mark (Tammy) Atkins of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with inurnment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
