LOFTUS, MONTAGUE, LOTZ, ELLIOTT, BARTLING, WARDLOW, HILDEBRAND

James Edward Loftus, 73, of Waterloo died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center from complications from a fall at home. He was born March 5, 1933 in New Haven, the son of Walter and Evelyn Montague Loftus.

He married Ingeborg Lotz on Aug. 25, 1954 in Stuttgart, Germany. Mr. Loftus was employed as a welder with Titus Manufactoring. He also was employed as a carpenter for the Waterloo Schools retiring in 1984.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; two sons, Tim (Ruth) of Deep River, Connecticut and Mike (Tammy) of Waterloo; three daughters: Annette (Kim) Elliott of Waterloo, Doreen (Jeff) Bartling of Adel, and Renee (Pat) Wardlow of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren: Keith, Brian, Heather, Melanie, and Jessica Loftus, Jacob and Travis Wittmayer, Danielle, Nate, and Mandi Bartling, Liz and Erin Wardlow; four brothers: Bill (Florence) of Waseca, MN, Vincent of Greeley, CO, Jack (Lucille) of Lodi, CA, and Chuck of Galt, CA; a sister Ada (Earl) Hildebrand of Oxnard CA.

Preceded in death by a infant son James Loftus; eight brothers: Gathian, Tom Bernard, Robert, Harold, Norbert, Francis, and Lloyd Loftus.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. where there will be 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
