Carol Jean Miller, age 82, of Evansdale, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at the Living Center West in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.

She was born December 14, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Emmett and Lucy (Johns) Ragsdale.

She married John J. Miller on May 17, 1945, in Sea Side, California. John died on November 18, 1990. Carol worked at Culligan Soft Water in Waterloo for 12 years. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Covenant Auxiliary, as well as a Covenant Medical Center volunteer.

Survivors include a son, John (Diane) Miller III, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; two daughters, Jan (John) Kneeland of Marion, and Mary Bartels (David Elgin) of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Lia (Joe) Gravier, Sarah (John) LeClaire, John (Crystal) Wendt, Trisha Wendt, Chris (Melissa) Bartels, and Pat (Amy) Bartels; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Bob (Donis), Bill (Barb), and Jim (Pat) Ragsdale, all of Kansas City; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ragsdale of Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Dorothy and husband Ray Shepard; and a brother Don Ragsdale.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation Tuesday from 5 7 pm at. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 7:00 pm Vigil Service. Visitation will also continue for an hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Columbus High School.
