WATERLOO - William “Bill” Sass, 82, of Waterloo, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, of natural causes, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born November 11, 1929 in Waterloo, the son of William F. and Laura Koepcke Sass. He married Berneice Jacobsen on April 8, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Bill was a self-employed carpenter, working for Paul Christensen Construction for 20 years and then as an inspector for Construction Machinery for over 17 years. He also served in the Naval Reserve during peace time.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons: Danny Sass of Morgan City, LA, John (Jan) Sass of Washburn, Thomas (Barbara) Sass of Indianapolis, IN and Richard Sass of Waterloo; 1 daughter, Dawn (Brent) Ridder of Ackley; 1 brother, Wilbert “Lefty” Sass of Washburn; 4 sisters: Jeanne (Robert) Cunningham and Mary Sankey both of Washburn, Berdine Cole of Waterloo and Arlene Dobbins of Independence, MO; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald and Luverne; 2 sisters, Laurene Schrock and Al Brown.

Services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, August 27th at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 1-5pm Sunday and an hour before services on Monday.
