Elaine Ilax Rose Tessmer, 83, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at Parkview Manor, Reinbeck, from heart failure.

She was born September 6, 1928 in Cedar Falls, Iowa: the daughter of Nick and Clara (Savage) Ilax. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School on Main Street, with the class of 1947.

Elaine was married to Wiley Rose on September 20, 1947; they later divorced. She was then married to D.L. Tessmer on October 14, 1967; they later divorced. Elaine was a bookkeeper and worked at Sears in the Credit Department, also for Parrott & Wood when it was downtown Waterloo. Later, she worked at the Quality Inn, then for Fahr Beverage. Elaine enjoyed sewing, building things and remodeling.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Wiley Rose and D.L. Tessmer; a son Timothy Rose; a daughter Debra Rose; a brother Jim Ilax and a brother-in-law Frank Williams.

Elaine is survived by a son Dan Tessmer of Waterloo; two daughters: Marybeth (Mark) Speck of Delta, Alabama and Jane (Robert) Fahr of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Mitchell and Daria Tessmer, Lezlie (Jeff) Bowers and Daphne Verdico and Brett (Kathy) Staudinger; five great-grandchildren: Carli and Sam Chilcote and Dakota Griswald, Phoenix and Alexus Wittenburg; three sisters: Virginia (Jim) Nicholas, Dora Williams and Bertha (Quentin) Henry all of Cedar Falls and a sister-in-law Carolyn Ilax of Cedar Falls. Elaine will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Parrott &Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls.
