Paul E. Meier, 83, of Waterloo, died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Rosewood Estates, Waterloo.

He was born January 2, 1929, in Fayette County, son of Richard and Renetta Westendorf Meier. He married Marion L. Griffith on February 18, 1949 in Waterloo. She died October 12, 2008.

Paul worked as a Ham Skinner at Rath Meat Packing Company for 35 years.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Richard (Linda) Meier of Lenexa, KS and Michael (Beth) Meier of Waterloo; 1 daughter, Vickie (Marty) Nance of Waterloo; 1 sister, Evonne Harris of DeKalb, IL; 7 grandchildren, Dennis Nance, Sam Meier, Curtis Nance, Will Meier, Matthew Meier, Alexis Meier and Anna Meier; 3 great-grandchild, Kaleb Knott-Nance, Lynnear and Lyderal Nance.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mervyn Meier and William Meier.

Services will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 am at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and an hour before services Friday.

Those who wish may direct memorials to Iowa Hospice in lieu flowers.
