Dorothy Maxine Brausey, the daughter of Oliver and Amy (Crow) Domer, was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Waterloo. She passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the age of 83. She passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the age of 83.

Her childhood years were spent in Waterloo where she received her education, graduating from Waterloo High School. After graduation, she worked for two years as a nanny for a doctor in Boone, who had a handicapped child.

Dorothy married Ralph Brausey on Sept. 19, 1946, in Kansas. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Boone, Waterloo and Des Moines, until moving to Spencer in 1964. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Spencer. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, embroidering, sewing and volunteering at the church, where she made over 400 baptismal banners. Dorothy loved to travel and toured Germany and Austria as well as taking a cruise to Alaska and traveling to Reno, Nev., to visit her son. For the last 10 years, Dorothy and Ralph had spent their winters in Tennessee.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ralph of Spencer; 10 children, Clinton (Wanda) Brausey of Norfolk, Neb., Grace Fortner of Tacoma, Wash., Ralph Gary (Judy) Brausey of Spencer, Mary (Leon) Daniel of Clarksville, Tenn., Colleen (Robert) Dillard of Dickens, Mark (Rhonda) Brausey of Bayview, Idaho, Ruby (Bill) Nitzel of Spencer, Laura Groth of Spencer, Paul (Jennifer) Brausey of Spencer and Robert Brausey of Kansas City, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian (Delbert) Sommerfelt of Independence; three brothers, George Domer of Coralville, Duane (Thelma) Domer of Donna, Texas, and James (Val) Domer of Baja, Calif.; other relatives and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Domer; four sisters: Gladys Domer, Viola Chrisman, Effie Reasland and Harriett Jones.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
