WATERLOO, IOWA - Gerald N. "Jerry" Uting, 81, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born February 3, 1931, in Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois, son of Norman and Hazel Richart Uting. He married Patricia A. Culbert on March 31, 1971, in Galena, Illinois.

Mr. Uting was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Standard Forwarding for 28 years, retiring in 1993. He was a former member of Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Club.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Wade (Mary), Norman and Martin, all of Waterloo; a daughter, Marybeth Uting of St. Paul, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Jean (Ron) Simons of Belvidere, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Dody, Holly and Vickey.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
