DIKE, IOWA — William “Bill” Terrall Sprole, 74, formerly of Dike, died February 27, at his home at Bellevue Independent and Assisted Living Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He was born February 7, 1938, in Cedar Falls, son of William “Marvin” Sprole and Mary Hope Terrall Sprole.

He attended Dike Community School and graduated in 1956. He attended one year at State College of Iowa, and spent two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska. He then returned to SCI and earned his bachelor’s degree. He taught English and speech at La Porte City Community School from 1964 to 1966, and at Southwest High School in Green Bay from 1968 until retirement in 1987.

Survived by a brother-in-law, Earl Biersner of Cedar Falls; a nephew, Robert (Patricia) Biersner of Dike; a niece-in-law, Brenda Biersner of Dike; two nieces, Ann Geiken of Dike and Jane (Randall) Graham of Fairfax Station, Va.; a nephew, Keith Biersner of Thornton, Colo.; 10 great-nephews; and seven great-nieces.

Preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte A. Biersner; and a nephew, John P. Biersner.

Services: 5 p.m. Friday at The First United Methodist Church, Dike, with a private burial at a later date.

Bill had several passions, he was an ardent collector of art and antiques, he loved to travel, to sing and was a gourmet cook.
