CEDAR FALLS — Ronald E. Soper, 67, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, June 28, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born Sept. 23, 1944, in Oelwein, son of Orville and Merial Harkin Soper. He married Kathryn Patten July 17, 1971, in Waverly.

He owned Soper Enterprises Inc. for 14 years. He then owned and operated American Golf for eight years, retiring in 2011.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Sherri Houser of Denver and Shannon (Troy) Gruchow of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; three brothers, Larry (special friend, Doug Spencer) of Rio Rancho, N.M., Jerry (Deb Gruver) of Hazleton, and Donald of Waterloo; and five sisters, Marian (Jim) Kelly of Oelwein, Joan (Richard) Waitman of Phoenix, Shirley (Gene) Shay of Oelwein, Patti (Peter) Schmitz of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Susan (Craig) Ohrt of Richmond, Mo.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Holley and Connie Crawford.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Orchard Hill Reformed Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, and also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
