CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Marilyn A. Petersen, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born August 3, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Newell and Agnes Schwartz Lowe. She married Holger Petersen on July 6, 1952, in Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Petersen earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in 1953. She taught in Orange Township for a year, and then was a substitute teacher for typing and business classes in the surrounding area. She later taught business at Hawkeye Community College, retiring in 1983.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Steven (Susan) and William (Dee); two daughters, Christine (Bradd) Draheim and Susan (Alan) Ruschill; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Mae Lowe; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
