WATERLOO, IOWA - Blanche D. Saboe, 96, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village of natural causes.

She was born May 20, 1916, in Mound City, Missouri, daughter of Clyde and Lillian Mann Davis. She married David K. Shelton on July 25, 1936. He died January 12, 1974. She married Lester Saboe on August 27, 1975. He died Dec. 1, 1981.

Mrs. Saboe graduated from Elwood High School, Elwood, Kan., and worked as an insurance specialist at Black Hawk Grundy County Mental Health Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and wedding hostess and participated in the quilting group. She volunteered for Waterloo Community Playhouse, various charities, and committees at Friendship Village.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia L. (Charles) Stilwill of Waterloo; a son, John D. (Bonnie) Shelton of Blaine, Minn.; a stepson, Greg (Sara) Saboe of Polk City; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Dashia Magee) Stilwill, Jeremy Stilwill, Jocelyn (Michael) Jopa, David (Lori Kukkonen) Shelton, Lori (Chris) Sevon, Joshua (Heather Garcia) Saboe, Rebecca (David) Herrick and Eric (Annie Ostrander) Saboe; three great-grandchildren, Cora Jopa, Thomas Sevon and Katie Herrick; and a sister, Dorothy Kelly, Albuquerque, N.M.

Blanche was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee D. and Swede Davis; and a sister, Ethel Miller

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
