WATERLOO, IOWA - Floyd E. "Sonny" Cox Jr., 80, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born August 10, 1931, in Albia, Monroe County, son of Floyd E. and Evalina Sadie Sutton Cox. He married Joann M. Power on September 3, 1954, in Waterloo.

Mr. Cox graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1951 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a foreman at the Rath Packing Co. and later worked for Porter Camera, retiring in 1996.

Floyd is survived by his wife; two sons, Greg (Sally) and Brad (Miki), both of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Florence (Wayne) Jacobs of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Anderson; two brothers, Edwin "Bud" and Jim; a granddaughter, Laura Joann Cox; and a sister, Donna Hayes.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military honors. There will be no visitation. Garden View Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
