WATERLOO — Willis A. Mastain, 90, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Manor Care Health Services.

He was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Hudson, son of Floyd and Edna Arter Mastain. He married Mary “Lucille” Mastain Sept. 9, 1943, in Fresno, Calif.

Mr. Mastain served in the U.S. Air Force during World War ll. He worked for the Waterloo Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 1976.

Survived by two grandchildren, Sara (Jim) Mayer of Hudson and Ryan (Krista) Mastain of Indianapolis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Roger; a daughter, Karen Anlauf; and a granddaughter, Amy Mastain.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with a 6 p.m. rosary. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
