Elizabeth A. "Betty" Smalling, age 76, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, December 4, 2006, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home. She was born July 23, 1930, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of John and Zelma Supple Dargon.

She married Roger Eagle Smalling on July 26, 1952, in Manchester. He died August 29, 2003. She was a high school graduate of OLVA and graduated from Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, as a lab tech. Betty worked in the lab at St. Francis Hospital for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Shelly) of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and Matthew (Ann) of Westlake Village, California; and four grandchildren: Elliot, Charlie, Sam, & Jake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant son, Mark.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Saturday.
