Alverna M. Wagner 80 of Waterloo died Friday, December 1, 2006, at Allen Memorial Hospital. She was born April 30, 1926 in Independence.

She married Vincent Wagner on Novmeber 4, 1946 in Independence. He died June 25 2006.

Alverna received her LPN from Hawkeye Tech and then worked at Friendship Village. She and her husband owned and operated Alvernas Antiques for many years.

Survivors include two sons; William of Waterloo, and Jeffrey (Meg) of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters Diane (Ron) McMahon and Darla Wagner, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Shawn (Tosha) McMahon, Shannon (Scott) Schmidt, Sydney, Amanda, and Ryan Wagner; three great-grandchildren: Braden and Christopher Schmidt, and Gavin McMahon; one brother, Alfred (Arlene) Dye of Spokane, Washington.

Preceded in death by a sister, Clara Smith and one great grandson, Nathan Schmidt.

Alverna loved her children grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a baker, a babysitter, an avid reader, a garage saler, and a rocker.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church with burial in St. Marys Cemetery both in Gilbertville. Public visitation 4 to 8 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
