Edward E. Halverson, 65, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Allen Hospital, of lung cancer.

Edward was born on April 28, 1941, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the son of Eddie J. and Mildred Huxley Halverson.

He married Joyce Ann Slater on September 27, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. Mr. Halverson was employed with Titus Manufacturing Co. for several years then was employed as a machinist for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 26 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Eagles and UAW Local 838.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Maj. Mark Edward Halverson of Okinawa, Japan, and Dennis Wayne, of Elk Run Heights; two daughters, Carol Ann (Kelly) Struve, of Mount Auburn, and Kristine Marie (Michael) Wroblewski, of Waterloo; grandchildren: Jason Eugene, Henry Milann, Kristine, Henry Dillion Edward (Ray) Struve, Zachariah William Struve, and Mikayla Rae Halverson; a great-granddaughter, Amber Sky Henry; a brother, Courtney Corky (Marcia) of Evansdale; and a sister, Lauretta Renslow of Waterloo.

Ed was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael John, a brother Carroll John, and a brother-in-law, Donald Renslow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 6 p.m. Eagles memorial service. Visitation also for an hour before services on Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Eddie enjoyed golfing and bowling, and was an avid country music performer who organized bands in the local area.
