CEDAR FALLS — Burton W. Warren, 97, of Mallard Point, formerly of Hudson, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Waterloo, son of Charles and Gertrude Lentz McLaury and was adopted by William and Alice Mae Spensley Warren. He married Lelah E. Bigelow June 6, 1942, in Rockford, Ill. She died Nov. 3, 2004.

Mr. Warren graduated from Fayette High School and attended Upper Iowa University. He owned and operated Warren’s Food Market in Fayette for 10 years with his wife, worked for Fareway Stores in Charles City and Independence and retired from Shaw Brokerage in Des Moines.

He served in the U.S. Army 28th Infantry at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Hudson and a Fayette City Councilman for eight years.

Survived by a son, Dane (Dorothy) Waterloo; two grandchildren, Andrew and Kimberly Warren, Waterloo.

Precededin death by four brothers.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Garden, Oelwein. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. Masonic service by Oelwein Hebron Masonic Lodge 374.
