CEDAR FALLS - Erna C. Blankenhagen, 84, of Cedar Falls, died at home Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Akron, daughter of James and Eleonora Schneider Eustace. She married Delmar Blankenhagen on May 10, 1947, in Trenton, N.J. He died Jan. 4, 2009.

Mrs. Blankenhagen received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College and taught in a country school in Humboldt County.

Survived by a son, Del (Jeri) of Newnan, Ga.; three daughters: Deb (Bruce) Johnson of Hudson, Cindie (Randy) Archer of Smith Center, Kan., and Cara (Jim) Burke of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine (Al) Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.

Preceded in death by a son, Charles; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at College Hill Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial at 2:30 p.m. in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
