WATERLOO — Leala M. Hild, 88, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Council Bluffs, daughter of William T. and Clara Kruger Clark.

She married Harold R. Hild on May 23, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. He died Aug. 1, 2003.

Mrs. Hild graduated from Waterloo East High School. She was a bullet maker at Chamberlain Manufacturing during World War II.

Survived by five sons: Robert (Sheryl) of Janesville, Mike (Roxine) of La Porte City, David (Ardith) and Robert, both of Bryan, Texas, and Roger (Nancy) of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, James (Jackie) Clark of Phoenix and Duane (Edith) Clark of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a brother, Roger Clark; and a sister, Dorothy Atwood.

Private family services: Saturday at Garden of Memories Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Following the war, Leala’s life revolved around being a wife and mother. She watched three sons go off to Vietnam and return safely. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was an accomplished seamstress.
