CEDAR FALLS — Bette L. Nielsen, 65, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.
She was born March 6, 1947, in Ames, daughter of Earl and Louanne Sneckenberger Spencer. She married Leonard “Butch” Nielsen on Jan. 9, 1971, in Waterloo.
Mrs. Nielsen graduated from Waterloo West High School and attended Monticello College. She worked at Principal Financial Group in the metropolitan area for 19 years. She was a member of the Cedar Falls Recreation Center and was a member and former deacon at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church.
Survived by her husband; two daughters, Amy (Steve) Petersen of Cedar Falls and Jill (Ron) DeVol of Delano, Minn.; two grandchildren, Charli Petersen and Natalie DeVol; her mother of Janesville; two brothers, Bill (Jennie) Spencer of Forest City and Earl “Hap” (Cindy) Spencer of Janesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father.
Services: 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 4 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospitals and Cedar Valley Hospice.
