CEDAR FALLS - Marilynn Elaine McClure, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Mallard Point of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Salisbury, Mo., daughter of Charles and Hallie Fetterhoff Welch. She married Dean McClure on Jan. 28, 1950, in Salisbury.

She graduated from West High School, Denver, Colo., in 1941 and received an associate degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mrs. McClure was employed for 17 years with the Waterloo Community School System as an English secretary.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Shawn (Mark) Marken of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Steve McClure and Abby (Marken) Pasker; and four great-grandchildren, Steven and Michael McClure, Erika and Marek Pasker.

Preceded in death by a son, Michael.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, 3475 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Waterloo, with full military honors at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of donor's choice.

Marilynn loved spending time outdoors, fishing, camping and traveling all over the United States. She was able to go hiking in the Grand Canyon in 1992, and especially cherished spending time at Androsia Lake in Minnesota. She was a great cook, especially in Southern cuisine. She was a member of Central Christian Church where she enjoyed sharing her beautiful voice in the choir.
