WATERLOO - H.J. "Hi" Lichty, 89, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 8, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Edward and Ora Sheeler Lichty. He married Donnalee Fisk on Sept. 3, 1950, in Spencer at First English Lutheran Church.

Mr. Lichty graduated from Orange Township High School, then attended Iowa State University for a year. He joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Mountrail, then returned to Iowa and started farming.

Survived by his wife; a son, Thomas (Christy) of Waterloo; three daughters, Jann (Gene) Martens of Onalaska, Wis., Jeane (Frank) Diehl of Waterloo and Karen (Don) Stenzel of Wells, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by an infant sister; and two brothers, Wayne E. and Richard S.

Services: 11 a.m. June 2 (note: corrected date) at Friendship Village Chapel. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.
