EVANSDALE, IOWA — Edward W. Henkle, 66, of Evansdale, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born December 12, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Jake T. and Mary Ruth Hay Henkle. He married Barbara Huffman on July 29, 1967, in Waterloo.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Henkle was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 2000.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Anthony (Elizabeth) of Waterloo, Troy of Austin, Texas, and Scott (Tehya) of Gilbert, Ariz.; a daughter, Ashley (Adam) Coarts of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Albert (Tomiko) and Charles (Margaret), both of Waterloo, and Richard (Connie) of Evansdale; and three sisters, Frances VanGorder of Evansdale and Zelda (Paul) Dinnibier and Evelyn Gautney, both of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan; and a sister, Mary DeVoogd.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo, where military rites will be conducted by Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty–Waychoff–Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. time of sharing. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church.
