CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Luella M. "Lu" Bierle Palmer, 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Cedar Falls, died December 2, 2011, at Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs.

She was born August 1, 1927, in Lonerock, daughter of Charles and Alice Murray Bierle. She married Roger E. Palmer on October 12, 1946, in Algona. He died July 18, 2010.

Mrs. Palmer was employed as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1991.

She is survived by three sons, David (Val) of Lakewood, Colo., Dick of Bloomington, Minn., and Dale (Lisa) of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Dianne (Roger) Palmer Sharpe of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren, Angela Sharpe, Melissa Westcott, and Jordan, Katy, Austin, Emily and Katelyn Palmer; a brother, Raymond (Phyllis) Bierle of Buffalo Center; three sisters, Clara Bierle Koryn of Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y., Norma Bierle Bormann of Whittemore and June Bierstedt (died Feb. 26, 2012); and many nieces and nephews.

Luella was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Roy, Richard and infant Ralph; and two sisters, Viola Dacken and Ersel Bernhard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
