WATERLOO — Phyllis I. Fernau, 78, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 22, 2012.

She was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Laurel, daughter of Pearl and Blanche Arnaman. She married Larry Cain, and they divorced. She married William "Bill" Fernau in 1973.

Mrs. Fernau was a 1951 graduate of Waterloo East High School and had worked as a secretary in the office at Rath Packing Co.

Survived by her husband; three sons, Dennis (Tammy) Cain of Sumner, Christopher (Joan) Fernau of Dunkerton and Scott Fernau of Waterloo; two daughters, Michelle (Mark) Lux of Fuquay Varina, N.C., and Lisa (Bruce) Wagner of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Betty) Arnaman of Keokuk; and three sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Lucille (Bob) Kline, both of Lyons, and Juanita (Jim) Morkel of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister, Melba O’Neil; and a son, Larry Cain.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, where visitation begins at 1 p.m., with burial in Geneseo Township Cemetery, Buckingham.
