CEDAR FALLS - Wallace Lee Peine, 80, of rural Piqua, Kan., formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Friday, April 20, 2012.

He was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Greeley, Kan., son of Curtis John and Genevieve Emma Kress Peine. He married Phyllis Callies on Nov. 17, 1950, and they later divorced.

Mr. Peine graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Waterloo, and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the city of Waterloo, then as a tool and die maker at Chamberlain Manufacturing, also in Waterloo, for a number of years. He began farming in Iowa in 1959 and in 1984 moved to a farm west of Piqua, where he continued farming.

Survived by three sons: Ronald (Sue) of Fairbank, Richard (Carol) of Readlyn and Alan (Any) of Falling Waters, W. Va.; two daughters, Debra (Galen) Heineman of Fairbank and Andrea (George) Gerstenberger of Holt, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rita Buckingham, Julie Horstman, Coena Icavone and Jeannie George; and his companion, Theresa Dix

Preceded in death by a son, Daniel.

Services: were Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Piqua, with burial in the church cemetery. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, Kan., was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Allen County Hospice in care of the funeral home at 16 N. Buckeye, Iola, KS 66749.
