WATERLOO, IOWA — Eldon “Al” Paul Nolting, 72, formerly of Waterloo, died May 20 at St. Luke’s Hospice, Duluth, Minn.

He was born September 14, 193, in Tripoli, son of Ida and Fred Nolting.

Mr. Nolting attended Waterloo East High School and graduated from computer technology school in eastern Iowa as a computer specialist. He worked all over the country until retiring in 2003.

Al is survived by his wife, Patricia; four sons, Nick (Cheryl) and Neal (Angie) Nolting, and Reid (Terry) and Kerry (Holly) Lamppa; five daughters, Natalie Mercer (Bryce), Lita (Rick) Brown, Stacey Lamppa, Stefanie (Dan) Olson and Darcie (Robert) Clark; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Wilma) and Wendell (Janice); a sister, Eunice (Robert) Lee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren; his first wife, Connie; and two sisters, Elaine and Edith.

Memorial services were held on June 16 at Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, Duluth, and inurnment was June 18 in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

Before illness took him, Eldon Paul lit up everyone’s life and was an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed.
