WATERLOO, IOWA – Delano G. "Del" Kendall, 92, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 23, at Windhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Falls.

He was born October 23, 1919, in Waterloo, son of Glen and Mayme Trusty Kendall. He married Dixie Nelson on June 8, 1941, in Waterloo. She died August 4, 2010.

Mr. Kendall was employed with Herrick Refrigeration and later with Hawkeye Steel & Equipment, retiring as vice president in 1983. He served as vice president of the Waterloo Black Hawks Hockey Team and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the Pacific theater.

He is survived by a son, Dennis (Nancy) of Cameron Park, Calif.; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Polley of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Dan (Monique) Kendall, Michelle (Len) Milanowski, Brian Buehner and Traci (Jeff) Butz; nine great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kyle and Hannah Milanowski, Lexi Butz, Michael and Dylan Buehner, Cassie and Hannah Kendall and Kassie Batterson; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Kendall and Jean Nelson, both of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Milo, Roy and Loren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a public Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visitation also half an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Cedar Bend Humane Society.

In his retirement to the Western Home Communities, Del enjoyed spending time in his garden and woodworking in the barn.
