EVANSDALE — Dale C. Ernster, 88, of Evansdale, died at home Monday, April 16, 2012.

He was born January 4, 1924, in Tulare, South Dakota, son of Charles and Sarah Mae Glidden Ernster. He married Rose M. Diehl on October 11, 1947, in Evansdale. She died October 4, 2005.

Mr. Ernster worked as a wastewater treatment operator for the cities of Evansdale, Elk Run Heights, Raymond and Stanley. He also was a past park commissioner in Evansdale and an honorary life member of the Moose Lodge.

Dale is survived by two daughters, G. Lynne (Kenneth) McManigle of Stanley and Barbara Ernster of Evansdale; four grandchildren, Steven McManigle, Cory Clark, Kenneth McManigle Jr. and Rita Hillman; four great-grandchildren, Gavin and Allianna Clark, Nathaniel and Izak Hillman; two sisters, Helen Thomas of Rock Hill, S.C., and Jeanie Harlan of Sturgis, South Dakota; and two brothers, Harry (Veda) of Waterloo and Raymond of Redfield, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Deviney and Genevieve Wyatt; and two brothers, Lyle and Lloyd.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dale enjoyed spending time at the casino visiting with friends. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in his garage. He also was fond of watching baseball games on TV and listening to music.
