WATERLOO — Cletus John Rokusek, 83, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born July 20, 1929, in Dubuque, son of John J. Sr. and Lucille F. Williams Rokusek. He married Germaine “Geri” Timmerman on Feb. 26, 1952, in Cuba City, Wis. She died Feb. 21, 2012.

Mr. Rokusek served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as an anti-aircraft gun placement surveyor. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in landscaping architecture from Iowa State University. He was employed with the city of Waterloo Planning Commission, and later became head person. He then went to work at John Deere as a plant layout engineer, retiring in 1985 after 20 years of employment.

Survived by two sons, Ronald (Diana) of Hudson and Sheldon (Meladee) of Elk Run Heights; a daughter, Victoria Nicklay of Washburn; six grandchildren, Brady Rokusek, Mandy (Luke) Loeb, Alicia (Derek) Deer, Emily Rokusek, Rochelle (Michael) Hargis and Noel Nicklay; four greatgrandchildren, Alston and Karson Loeb and Max and Sam Hargis; and a brother, John (Julitta) Rokusek Jr. of Dubuque.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Cletus loved gardening, flowers and landscaping. When he was younger, he and Geri enjoyed Big Bands, dancing and roller skating. Together as a family, they camped every state park in Wisconsin. Cletus
will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
