NISIUS, SMITH, HEYENGA, KANNEGIETER

WATERLOO — Francis “Frank” Nisius, 79, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born July 11, 1933, in Dubuque, son of Frank Xavier and Mabel Agnes Smith Nisius.

He married Marjorie J. Scribner on Oct. 12, 1956, at her mother’s home. She died April 9, 2007.

Mr. Nisius served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by two sons, Tim (Cindy) of Janesville and Tom (Becky Jo) of Waverly; a daughter, Terry (Dennis) Heyenga of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Nicole Kannegieter, Mike Nisius, Nickolaus Nisius, Brad Heyenga and Joel Nisius; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Frankie Joe; five brothers; and a sister.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Frank enjoyed camping, mowing the lawn and loved his dogs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
