GRUNDY CENTER — Dawn M. Hansen, 41, of Grundy Center, formerly of Finchford, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born April 18, 1970, in Waterloo, daughter of Al and Pat Hartley Hansen.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1988, received an accounting degree from Hawkeye Community College, and became a certified counselor through Central Iowa Detention Center. She was employed with Matthias Arabians in Readlyn, Hy-Vee in Waverly, Hudson Veterinary Clinic, and dispatch for Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Eldora Police Department, later serving as a reserve officer with Hardin County. She was employed with Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center for the past 17 years as client service coordinator.

Survived by: her parents of Janesville; a brother, Chad (Nell) Hansen of Waterloo; five sisters, Amber (Steve) Hansen Runge of Waverly, Christine (David) Jensen of Aurora, Colo., Teresa Yreta of Yuma, Ariz., Teesha Kay Ellis Vasquez of Cedar Falls and Cindy Ohrt of Clarksville; maternal grandparents, Milton and Vi Hartley of Elk Run Heights; and nieces and nephews, Kyle Hansen, Sean, Kaetlyn and Brandyn Runge, Nadia, Kylie and Cole Hansen, Christopher and Amanda Jensen, Jerry and Manuel Arias, and Joshua and Michael Yreta.

Preceded in death by: paternal grandparents; a sister, Lori Lynn Hansen; nephews, Thomas W. and Joseph W. Hansen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Linden United Methodist Church, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
