CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — Otto Barnhardt "Jake" Krug Jr., 79, of Cochise, Arizona, and formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Thursday, February 2, 2012.

He was born on September 18, 1932, in Oneida Township, Tama County, son of Otto and Mary Jane McNamee Krug. He married Shirley Joan Stark** on November 16, 1975, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died February 19, 2012.

Mr. Krug farmed with his father in the Dysart area and later in San Diego County, Calif. He returned to Iowa, and was employed in maintenance at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1990.

He is survived by three brothers, Glenn of Vinton, Robert Dean (Karin) of Borrego Springs, Calif., and Merlin John (Judy) of El Cajon, Calif; two sisters, Corrine Irelan of Rochester, Minn., and Violet Duran of Rio Rancho, N.M.; two stepdaughters, Deborah (Al) Bailey of Evansdale and Patrice Broline of Tucson, Ariz.; three stepsons, Michael and Jeffrey Stark of Waterloo and Bradford (Bonnie) Stark of Cedar Falls; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Darlene Krug; and brothers-in-law, Lee Irelan and Dee Duran.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls. His body was cremated.
