Anna M. Corwin, 90, of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, Iowa, and formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on March 4, 2009.

Ann was born on December 11, 1918, to Nels Christian and Viola Mae (Sowles) Hansen, in rural Cedar Falls. On September 19, 1942, Ann was united in marriage to Grant Curtis Corwin in Brownwood, TX. They lived and farmed on Beaver Valley Rd, Cedar Falls, until their retirement.

Ann graduated from Janesville High School, and was a cashier for Wonder Bread Bakery before getting married. She was a housewife and loving mother as their children were growing up. Ann also worked at Clay Equipment before retiring. Ann went to the Bartels Lutheran Home to live in September of 2003.

Ann was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in New Hartford, and belonged to Black Hawk County Farm Bureau, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Loretta) Corwin of New Hartford, Margaret Hawkins of Mason City, NE, and Larry (Dixie) Corwin of Lansing, IA; seven grandchildren, Patricia (Bill) Nelson, Brian (Mindy) Hawkins, Jonathan (Emily) Hawkins, Rachel (Jason) Unger, Todd (Heather) Corwin, Mark Corwin, and Neal Corwin; eight great-grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Nelson, Grant and Morgan Hawkins, Bailey Hawkins, Allison Unger, and Lydia and Halea Corwin; and a sister, Mary Miller of Cedar Falls.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grant on May 27, 1986; a daughter, Cynthia in infancy; one grandson, Michael Corwin; a son-in law, Robert Hawkins; and a brother, John Hansen.

Ann always enjoyed her flowers and garden at the farm as well as at Bartels. She always enjoyed her family and friends. Ann participated in all the activities and always attended church services at Bartels until the very end.
